Auto Glass Petition
Auto glass fraud has become a costly scheme that harms hardworking Floridians and must be stopped.
Windshield bullies prey on innocent policyholders, using high-pressure tactics to coerce them into filing a vehicle glass claim at gas stations, car washes or by going door to door. Their approach is typically pushy, and in some cases their actions are fraudulent.
Why should Florida drivers be deceived into replacing a windshield that isn't damaged. That’s wrong.
Auto glass fraud is driving up the cost of insurance for Floridians and essentially stealing money from their wallets.
This problem is spiraling out of control. According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), "questionable" vehicle glass claims increased 527 percent in the first half of 2010.
This can’t be allowed to continue. Fraudulent claims and legal fees are a factor in determining premiums, which affects all Florida drivers.
I’m asking the Florida Legislature to reign in windshield bullies abuse and protect consumers. Pass meaningful legislation to curb auto glass fraud before it gets even worse.
